CARTOMAP CommCenter is a free distributed application that provides exchange functionalities for Autodesk (DWG and DXF) or CARTOMAP (CTM) files between your PC or Mac and your Apple iOS device with CARTOMAP CAD for iOS.

CARTOMAP CAD 1.3 or greater does not requires CARTOMAP CommCenter because it can create, open, save and send DWG / DXF / CTM files ( by email or iTunes) natively.

1. Functionalities
1.1. Settings: Language, background color, check for updates
Languages
Multiple languages supported (English, Spanish and Portuguese) CARTOMAP CommCenter user interface suits the user language preferences. For Windows version you have to download the application according to your preferred language: English, Spanish or Portuguese. For MAC versions all languages supported are included in the installation process.
Background color
You can set up the view background color to be displayed in CARTOMAP CAD. Results are displayed in the preview window.
Automatically check for updates
CARTOMAP CommCenter can automatically check for updates. You can select this option from Settings.
1.2. Send and Receive drawing files
Drawing files to be sent from CARTOMAP CommCenter to the iOS device are processed and packed into the iCTM format. The iCTM format contains the original drawing file (DWG/DXF/CTM) and the files to be used by CARTOMAP. When an iCTM file is received CARTOMAP CommCenter can restore the file to their original format: DWG/DXF/CTM.
1.2.1. Send files to the iOS device
You can select one or more files to be sent. Files are displayed in the preview area and are converted into the iCTM format. The iCTM files can be sent by email, through iTunes or via Wi-Fi.
1.2.1.1. Send by email
CARTOMAP CommCenter can send iCTM files by email using the default mail service (Mail/OSX, Outlook/Windows) or you can use other email services to send the iCTM files.
1.2.1.2. Send through iTunes
iTunes 9.x allow sending or receiving iCTM files to the device into the CARTOMAP CAD folder.
1.2.1.3. Send via Wi-Fi
CARTOMAP CommCenter sends and receives drawing files through a Wireless network using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Files are transferred to the CARTOMAP CAD folder.
1.2.2. Receive drawing files from the iOS device
The easier way to load iCTM files to CARTOMAP CommCenter is double-click on the file. This will launch CARTOMAP CommCenter and the file is added to the files list. You can also add files from a folder or download the files from the device via Wi-Fi.
1.2.2.1. Restore an iCTM file to its original format
When an iCTM file is received, CARTOMAP CommCenter allows you to restore the file to its original format: DWG, DXF or CTM. CTM files can only be restored to CTM6.3 format.
1.3. Preview, zooms and creating Views
Before sending a file to the device you can display the content in the preview area and set up the background color of the view according to the color of the drawing elements. You can create new Views that can then be displayed in CARTOMAP CAD.
1.4. Monitoring
Users get complete information about the files existing in the device. The file transferring process is monitored and CARTOMAP CommCenter can generate a file report, which includes all the transfers fulfilled and that can be used in quality control tasks.
2. Supported files
  • CARTOMAP CTM (v6.2): handles civil engineering, land planning, surveying, CAD... projects in one single file (.ctm extension).
  • AutoCAD DWG (v14...2010): handles drawing files with several information data associated, including data information from other applications in a single and compact binary file.
  • AutoCAD DXF (v14...2010): is similar to the DWG format. This format has been used for ASCII format exchange of small and medium complexity. Usually the size of an ASCII version file is 5 times higher than the equivalent DWG file size.
ANEBA is a member of the Open Design Alliance. The AutoCAD DWG and DXF are processed using the Open Design Alliance code to guarantee the compatibility with AutoCAD and other CAD applications.
2.1 Objects supported in DWG/DXF files
Drawing objects supported in the current versions of CARTOMAP CAD and CARTOMAP CommCenter are:
  • CARTOMAP CAD for iPhone OS allows you to edit the following elements:
  • CAD elements: Lines, polylines, circles, arcs, points, texts, blocks, dimensions
  • Points list
  • Some layer properties
  • CARTOMAP CAD for iPhone OS can display the following elements of AutoCAD DWG/DXF files: lines, polylines, rectangles and polygons, circles, arcs, points, texts, multiline texts (mtext), blocks, dimensions, hatchs, proxy objects with embedded geometry (Autodesk AEC objects like walls, doors, stairs... and other third party objects)
  • The following AutoCAD DXF and DWG files elements are not displayed (but are preserved) in the current CARTOMAP CAD for iPhone OS version: Proxy objects without embedded geometry definition, ellipse and ellipse arc, solid, 3D solid, dynamic block, spline, lines of length 0, mpolygon, block using different X/Y scale factors, external drawing references XREFS, table, block attributes, ray, very complex hatch, image and region

  • The following CARTOMAP 6.2 (.CTM extension) files elements are not displayed in the current CARTOMAP CAD for iPhone OS version: Slope symbols, hatches; Longitudinal Profile, Cross Sections and 3D Views.
3. Requirements
These are the minimum requirements for the best results using CARTOMAP CommCenter:
  • PC (Windows 7/Vista/XP) or Intel Mac (OSX 10.5/10.6) computer.
  • iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch device OS 4.2 or later.
  • CARTOMAP CAD 1.5 for iPhone OS installed in your device.
  • 50 MB of free space to install the application, besides OS requirements.
  • It is NOT necessary to use a CAD application because CARTOMAP CommCenter provides the Open Design Alliance standard functionality.

CARTOMAP CommCenter is available for Apple environments using OSX Intel 10.5/10.6/10.7 or for Microsoft Windows versions 7/Vista/XP.
From here you can download some file samples to transfer to your device, although you can use your own DWG, DXF or CTM files.
